Sharing Marrakech through Emma’s eyes

We were delighted to spend time with Emma Cook recently, welcoming her to Marrakech and sharing the city through our own local lens. It was a pleasure to guide her through the souks, ateliers and hidden corners of the Medina, offering a slower, more thoughtful way of shopping one grounded in craftsmanship, long-standing relationships and the stories behind each piece.

In her article, Emma beautifully captures the magic of shopping in Marrakech: the colour and energy of the souks, the artistry of handmade goods, and the joy of discovering meaningful pieces that feel worlds away from the predictability of European high streets. From ceramics and textiles to spices, jewellery and vintage finds, she highlights how shopping here becomes an experience in itself sensory, personal and deeply connected to place.

Sharing Marrakech through Emma’s eyes was a delight, and we’re grateful she took the time to explore the city with us with such curiosity and openness. Her piece is a wonderful read for anyone interested in travelling and shopping with intention in Morocco, and it reflects the spirit behind our own curated shopping experiences here at Riad Botanica.

For those inspired to explore Marrakech in this way, our Mini Muse Marrakech shopping retreats run throughout the year in small, intimate groups, offering guided souk visits, artisan encounters and time to discover the city at a considered pace.

Upcoming dates include:

  • February 13 – 16
  • March 13 – 16
  • April 11 – 16 (5-day Muse Marrakech experience)
  • May 29 – June 1
